Saying Goodbye to Gateway
As Founded Communities approaches 13 years of fostering spaces for a diverse community of entrepreneurs and small businesses where innovation and connection thrive, we have decided to close our Gateway location, come this November.
Over the past year, the team behind Founded has evaluated how our physical presence relates to our impact on the community we serve. Founded’s ultimate goal has always been to provide not only the space, but intentional programming and community building that elevates our members and their experiences. While this move is difficult, we know that we can serve our community with greater purpose and consistency by focusing on fewer, more active spaces.
When Raleigh Founded first moved into Gateway Plaza, our role was that of a revitalizer, there to bring life to the plaza and the local businesses inhabiting it. Over the years, as we’ve gotten used to our local lunchtime staples and stopped by the plaza’s shops during our breaks, we’ve had the opportunity to do just that! Gateway Plaza has transformed into a vibrant hub of businesses, owned and championed by people who care deeply about Raleigh. We are so grateful to have been a part of it.
Our current anchor tenant, Levitate, created by co-founder of Raleigh Founded, Jesse Lipson, will take over the space in the new year.
"As a member at the Gateway location since it opened in November of 2019, we've seen the Gateway shopping center develop into one of the coolest new spots in Raleigh over the last few years. Raleigh Founded has played an important catalytic role in this development by hosting events, attracting new companies, and fostering a strong community,” says Lispon of Gateway Plaza’s growth.
“During this time, Levitate has grown from 20 employees to over 250 employees, and we're excited to take over the lease at Gateway as Raleigh Founded focuses on building a robust entrepreneurial community in its other four locations."
Levitate has been with us since the very beginning, starting in a few offices before expanding to a whole hallway, additional annexes, and now the entire building. We’re proud to support the expansion of a growing startup and look forward to their continued success.
Although Founded is moving out of the space, we will remain closely connected to Gateway Plaza, its shop owners, and the local business initiatives that align with our values. We are grateful for our time at our Gateway location and look forward to continuing to serve our community. Learn more at raleighfounded.com.
